Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, but Nobody Wants to Die

1. Intro  Proverbs 14:32
1. Nobody wants to die because our hope is poorly placed. Christians should look to and haste the day that we will gain our heavenly home without doubt or fear.
2. Hope Defined
1. Hope in the Bible is never defined as wishing. It is a future known to us that we can take comfort in.
2. We actually have hope in everyday life, but it is in worldly things. There is no satisfaction ever in this world. But we are always searching for it anyway. We think once we hit a certain goal our life we will be completely happy. But then we hit that goal and it isnt all we dreamed. So now we have to set a new goal.
1. Cant wait for that drivers license
2. Cant wait to get married
3. Cant wait to have kids
4. Cant wait for that next promotion
5. Cant wait to retire.
6. I can wait to die

3. Hope in the Second Coming
1. Scared to study the end times? Why?
2. It is Well with My Soul  We sing that third verse and say, Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight. Is it well with our soul? Do we haste to the day?

4. The song Blue Horizon by 38th Parallel:

1. So here at the end of this day, when the world is shaded in grey, I will look to blue horizons and watch for you to come. When my hope is tattered and torn. When my faith is weathered and worn, Ill look to those blue horizons.

4. Hope in Death
1. Is dying the worse thing that could happen to you? Why?
2. Psalms 16  Rest in hope that you will not remain in death (sheol  hell)
3. Hebrews 6:10-20  Hope as an anchor
4. Philippians 1:20-21  To live is Christ to die is gain.
5. I Corinthians 15:54-58  Death has lost its victory in Christ
6. The song 99 by Disciple says: If its you will Ill live till Im 99, but if its your will, you can take my life tonight. Until then, Ill praise you!
5. Peace comes from Hope
1. 1 John 3:1-3  Hope purifies
2. Psalms 31:23-24  He strengthens the heart of the hopeful
3. Psalms 43  Praise God and hope!
6. Conclusion  Romans 8:24-25  Hope saves us. If you want to go to heaven and truly hope for it, you will no longer mind the dying part.
