Our belief in Jesus Christ is the first step to gaining salvation.Without it there is nothing we can do or say that can give us salvation. The scriptures tell us what to do to be saved, some scriptures mention belief and faith but nothing else. Some mention baptism and nothing else. Yet another says that with our mouth confession is made unto salvation. Other scriptures mention repent to be saved. Do the scriptures contradict each other? Not at all, when we learn to use the sum of the scriptures instead of picking and choosing the ones that fit our opinion, we'll find that the scriptures work together to give us a plan for salvation that we must follow if we hope to live for eternity with God. Mark 16:16 ? Jesus gives us the simple truth. The ones who do not believe will not inherit life eternal. John 3:15-16 ? Whosoever believes should not perish. John 5:24 ? Our Faith allows us to avoid condemnation. John 6:35-47 ? Our belief removes our thirst and gives us eternal life. John 14:12 ? Faith creates our drive to fulfill God's commandments. Acts 10:43 ? We must believe that Jesus Christ is the only name through which we can be saved. Romans 1:16 ? The gospel of Christ is our power to salvation, but can't be followed until we believe. Romans 3:28 ? Faith in Christ justifies us and not the law that the Jews still tried to cling to. Romans 5:1-2 ? By faith we can share in God's gracious offering of Jesus for our sins. Galatians 2:16 ? The jews at Galatia were trying to enforce the law of circumcision and probably other laws upon the gentiles, thus creating clicks within the church. Paul writes to tell them that we are justified through faith and not the obedience to the old laws. Where there was nothing wrong with circumcision, it and other laws are not requirements for salvation. Ephesians 2:8-10 ? We can't work our way into heaven, but instead should have faith in Christ and let that drive us to work. Otherwise men would become highminded about their many great works and demand salvation in return. This isn't God's plan. His plan is that we use our faith and love for Christ to drive our works. This doesn't mean that works are not required of us at all, but that our motivation for them is out of love and not out of ambitious desires. Hebrews 11:6 ? Once again faith required. James 2:14-26 ? This scripture gives us insight into the roll of faith. That in and of itself, faith is not the whole plan of salvation. But by faith, we become justified in our works. And in this perspective, faith can only be proven by the works in which it creates.
