Welcome to the Giants of Gath website.

Why the name, "Giants of Gath"? Weren't the giants the bad guys? Yes they were, but their story is quite intriguing. Like many Christians I used to look at study as work. A chore that needed to be done. Because 2 Timothy 2:15 says to study. So I did. But just like any chore that you don't enjoy doing, I did just enough so that I could say that I studied. One day while studying the well known story of David and Goliath I began to think about the giants in the Bible. So I started studying them, and it wasn't work. It was fun because I was genuinely curious about who they were, where they came from, etc. To my astonishment, the story of David and Goliath doesn't end with Goliath's death. You see, he had four brothers, all giants who each sought revenge against David over the course of the next 40 years. One by one they came at him in battle only to be defeated by David's servants. Then I remembered that David plucked five smooth stones from the river that day. Was he not confident that one was sufficient? Of course he was. But I now think that he was prepared that day to kill as many as five giants if he had to. It was then that I realized that I'd been feeding myself with milk and not meat. Ever since that study, I've looked for things to learn from the Bible that I may not have known before. I dig instead of skim. The giants may have been the bad guys of the story, but their study inspired me to be a better student of the Bible.

This site is designed to be a method in which Bible studies may be shared. Hopefully the studies here will intrigue the reader to study the Word of God further by introducing unique and thought provoking information. Sometimes as Christians we settle into that steady diet of the milk of the Word when as we grow spiritually we should be thriving on the meat of it.

But remember, all the thoughts presented here are merely the thoughts and studies of the author of the sermon or article. Don't take their word for it. Instead, study it with an open mind to prove it out. Let's be as the Bereans in Acts 17:11.

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. - Hebrews 5:12-14
